"I am grateful to have studied with Bay Area legend
Jesse Foster. When I met Jesse, I knew how to sing. I did
not know all the rest to make the magic. That is what Jesse
has taught me - how to relax; how to express my own musical
nature; and how to communicate with musicians. How to be
one of a group--to play off and with one another. After
studying with Jesse I have gotten my own gig and I am comfortable
jamming with musicians everywhere. Musicians all over the
Bay Area hightly respect him. He is supportive, fun to work
with, respectful, intuitive, and when he sings......he is
making the magic!"

"Jesse is a wonderful teacher and coach, and I especially
recommend his singer's workshop at Bistro Yoffi. It is a
great way for singers who are new to working with a band,
or performing and/or always good for a refresher. My work
with Jesse helped me understand how to get my charts together,
review them with the band prior to a tune's performance
and how to work with both the band and the audience effectively.
Jesse gives very specific feedback that is most useful in
improving the things each singer is most in need of improving
in terms of technique and style."

"I have been singing choral music for years because I had terrible stage fright.
Jesse helped me make the transition from hiding in the choir to singing solo center stage.
His workshops at BistroYoffi are a great way to learn how to put together charts,
communicate with the band and become a better performer."

"I've been taking voice lessons with Jesse Foster
for almost 7 years and singing at his workshops at Bistro
Yoffi off-and-on for about 5 years; and they have been
two of the best opportunities in my life. Throughout these
years of learning from Jesse, my love for music, my comfortability
performing in front of people, my musicianship, and my
friendship with Jesse and his family have all grown tremendously.
I remember how shy and timid I was when I would sing in
front of people, and sometimes I still am. But Jesse's
supportive and casual nature, along with the support from
the folks at Bistro Yoffi, helped me feel as comfortable
as I have ever been in my own skin. His ability to challenge
his students in exciting and nurturing ways, in combination
with the relaxed vibe of Bistro Yoffi, has helped me find
my own voice, my own style, my own soul. Most importantly,
Jesse has supported the ways I view my music. For me,
singing Jazz and Blues has never primarily been about
performing in front of an audience. Singing was a form
of therapy for me; it is the way that I am able to heal
many scars from my childhood and from growing up. Jesse
has certainly nourished my healing, my relationship to
Jazz and Blues. Whether or not you intend on singing any
sort of pop, jazz, blues, hip-hop, r&b, soul, etc. for
the rest of your life, I recommend you take lessons with
Jesse, because it is my experience that he will help you
find the voice you're searching for, the sound that is
already inside of you. I also recommend that you try the
workshops at Bistro Yoffi, because even if you think you
may not enjoy performing in front of others, you will
have an unforgettable experience."
